This week’s must have is the Dermablend Setting Powder in the original shade. I have to say I am so excited to talk about this product. One day I was on the internet minding my business and I saw a review on this product and I immediately had to try it. I have tried quite a few setting powders such as the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores to mention a few. Is important to mention that I use loose powders to set my under-eye and my concealer, I do not use any loose powder over my face (I use MAC’s Mineralized Skin Finish Natural for that). I find that my under-eye area is bright and the areas where I highlighted with my concealer are brighter but still blend well with the rest of my face. This powder is quite fine and is non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, fragrance free & sensitive skin tested.
The website also claims that this powder increases foundation or concealer wearability for up to 16 hours, I have not tested this theory but I can say that my concealer looks pretty good after a full day of work and 7-8 hours of wear. I have not tested this product on flash photography myself but I applied it to a family member for a party where she would be photographed often using flash and I am happy to report I didn’t see any flashback on her photos.
The website encourages the wearer to “bake” their concealer or foundation, I don’t necessarily bake but I do apply a generous amount of product with my beauty blender and get my desired results that way. There are three different shades available: Original, Cool Beige & Warm Saffron and the retail price is $27 for 1oz of product.
